Life is…But A Dream

Project Description

As a “maximalist,” I challenged myself to compose color harmonies in complementary, analogous, and monochromatic sets in order to make the collages look high-contrast and vivid, but still balanced. To support my idea of “seamlessness” I also used the theme of the image breaking out of its frame, which can be seen in a 1874 trompe l’oeil painting “Escaping Criticism” by Pere Borrell del Caso. The parts of the collages that extend beyond their frames can interlock with each other harmoniously, and the collages can be attached to each other in a sequence either vertically and horizontally. This allows the collages to be sorted in different orders, just like images in a dream.
